All therapists are members of the royal Dutch physiotherapy organisation (KNGF), and are registered in the central register of quality physiotherapy (centraal kwaliteitsregister).

Applying for physiotherapy can be done by the secretary at the counter, or by telephone. We will need to register your insurance number and information about additional insurances with regard to compensation of physiotherapy costs, so keep these at hand.

In addition you can indicate what kind of therapy you would like to apply for, and if you have a preference for a specific therapist.
If you don’t want to be treated by a physiotherapy student, please let us know.
An appointment is made for physiotherapeutic examination.

Direct access physiotherapy

As of the 1st of January 2006 you don’t need a referral note for physiotherapeutic treatment. If you decide to go directly to the physiotherapist, he will carry out a screening, making sure that your complaint is indeed of physiotherapeutic nature. If not, you will be sent back to the general practitioner. Further examination and treatment is carried out as if you did have a referral note.

When you do have a referral, the physiotherapeutic examination will be carried out by a physiotherapy student and a professional physiotherapist. After determining a diagnosis and a treatment schedule, the professional physiotherapist will determine whether the treatment can be given by a student or if a professional therapist is needed.
If you are treated by a student, regular controls by professional physiotherapists take place.
After the examination a plan of treatment will be established describing which therapy, advices and preventative measures will be given.
You will be treated in our practice, or if needed in your home, workplace or health care institution.

Also, when you are not able to make an appointment, the Academie Instituut gives you the opportunity to walk in during a consulting hour. This consulting hour will take place on Mondays and Fridays, between 8.00 and 9.00 am.

Like stated above, there is a multiple disciplinary approach possible at the Acedemie Instituut. If indicated, participation in a multidisciplinary team can be provided. These teams are divided based on a specific domain of the anatomy and physiology of the human body. Three teams were appointed: a head-neckteam, a sportsteam and a backteam.

To provide maximum quality, every physiotherapist stays in touch with the latest developments from his or hers particular field.

Certain ground rules are applied at the Academie Instituut:

Because of your personal hygiene we ask you to bring your own towel at the first and all the successive

          consults.

When you are not able to attend an appointment, please let us know 24 hours before the start of this appointment. Otherwise a compensation of  75% of the costs will be charged.

To regard your privacy, all files will be stored in a specific room. Only your own physiotherapist is aware of the contents of these files.

If your insurance covers physiotherapy, the invoice will be sent directly to your insurance company. When you are not insured for physiotherapy or when your insurance company is not contracted, the invoice will be sent to your address, at the beginning of each month.
